Top 3 Video Game Music Covers

Video Game music is, sometimes, amazing. I know a great many people who will hum the Tetris Theme as they pack things away. These people are the sane ones, I don’t quite understand how you can organise things without that tune playing. The choices you are about to see/hear are a little bit better than some scruffpot humming a tune. So, without further article padding, let’s hit the list.

To kick it all off:

I wasn’t 100% on whether to class this as a cover. As you know Jonathan Coulton wrote both of the Portal ending songs and this is just him singing it without autotune. However, it is such an amazing song how could I not include it? The more i hear it, the better it sounds than the “original”.

At 2 we have:

The power of an Orchestra with one of the best game intro music, this could only ever be a winner. It was rather difficult to pick a song from this album, “London Philharmonic Orchestra Play The Greatest Video Game Music”, i got it down to a tie between this and “Soviet Connection” from GTA:IV, but i can’t hear that song without yelling “For fucks sake, LOAD”. With headphones on, this song will make you want to sneak around, perhaps in a cardboard box.*

And at number 1:

Oh yes, from perhaps the greatest game to ever be released, we have Those who fight further. It’s hard to say something about this song that you won’t already be thinking. It was great on the PSone and with the added electric guitars you’ll feel like you can destroy anything in your path and who can blame you?
