(Sponsored story) The rules of bingo

Lots of people from all over the world love to play bingo. One of the reasons it is so popular is that it is really simple to learn and very fun to play. It first started life in Italy in the 1500s and hasn’t really changed very much since. Let’s take a look at the key rules of bingo so that even if you’ve never played before, you’ll soon be able to play bingo with confidence.

 How do you play?

First of all, there are two main ways to play: offline or online bingo. However, the rules for these are pretty much the same, so you don’t need to worry about major differences between the two. We’ll look at offline and online bingo a bit later on.

When you play bingo, you will typically get a card (or multiple cards) that is marked with twenty five squares, the middle square of which is usually blanked out. The rest are filled with numbers. Once you are ready to start the game, a bingo caller will start to draw and call numbers.

When you hear your numbers called, you have to mark them off your card. The aim of the game is to be the first one to complete your card of numbers. If you’re the first, you have to shout out ‘bingo!’

 What are the rules?

So there are the basics of the game. There are really very few rules you need to worry about beside those outlined above. Since most people play bingo for money, you will usually find that the game has got an age restriction of 18.

Another important rule is that if two or more people call ‘bingo’ at the same time then the jackpot will be split equally between them. You also have to make sure you call ‘bingo’ at the right time or else the win won’t count. This means that once you have filled your card of numbers, you have to shout bingo before the next number is called.

There are also variations on traditional bingo, where the aim is to fill in a line or shape of numbers rather than the entire card. These offer more chances to win but usually come with a smaller jackpot.

 Online versus offline?

Now we come to the question of whether you should play offline or online bingo. Whichever version you choose to play, it is a really fun game and the rules are essentially the same so the skills you pick up in one version of bingo will be transferable to other versions.

The main difference is in where the games are played: most offline bingo games are played in bingo halls, whereas online bingo allows you to play wherever you want. They are both social games, but it’s generally recommended that you focus on the numbers being drawn once the game starts so you don’t miss out on your chance to win!

Overall, if you’re looking for a simple yet really fun game to play, you truly cannot go wrong with bingo.
